Impact 2023: Celebrating Intergenerational Connections

The power of connection across generations

As we reflect on the past year, we are thrilled to unveil our Annual Report for 2023, alongside impact reports for each of our heart-warming intergenerational programmes: Songs & Smiles, Crafting Connections, and We are Friends.

These reports not only highlight our achievements but also showcase the profound impact of intergenerational connection on all those involved – from little ones, their parents, care home/assisted living scheme staff, residents, group leaders, and volunteers.

Embracing moments of joy with Songs & Smiles

Songs & Smiles has been a cornerstone of our mission to foster joy and connection through intergenerational music groups. In 2023, we witnessed countless heart-warming moments as parents, children and older residents came together to share laughter, songs, and friendship. Our impact report reveals not just the numbers but the actual difference it’s made to people’s lives. It's a testament to the transformative power of music in bridging generational divides and creating long-lasting bonds.

Building and maintaining meaningful friendships with Crafting Connections

Through Crafting Connections, we've experienced the power of intergenerational connection through creativity, compassion, and shared experiences. Crafting Connections brings children, older and people together in a heart-warming monthly arts & crafts exchange. Our impact report showcases the creativity and special connections shared between generations. It's not just about the artwork; it's about the conversations had, the friendships made and the journey of mutual inspiration, and unforgettable memories.

Nurturing lifelong friendships

In We are Friends, we've witnessed the blossoming of genuine friendships that transcend age barriers. We united older residents, young children and their parents/guardians in libraries across the borough through the magic of storytelling and song. Initially launching in four libraries for an eight week spring term, the programme was so successful that it was extended to a further four libraries in the autumn, leaving a joyful intergenerational legacy as several libraries have continued with the programme.

Strongest year to-date

2023 has been our strongest year to-date, with a record turnover, new funding partnerships and an expansion of our services. As we proudly present our Annual Report and 2023 impact reports, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have been part of The Together Project's journey. To the parents/guardians and children who bring warmth and enthusiasm to our programs, to the care home staff and residents who open their hearts and homes, and to the Songs & Smiles group leaders and volunteers who dedicate their time and energy

thank you!

Looking ahead

After a bumper 2023, we’re really excited to develop our work, reach and impact even further in 2024. We’re inspired by the stories shared, the relationships forged, and the impact created. Together, we will continue to champion intergenerational connection, spreading joy, fostering understanding, and building a more compassionate society, one smile, one craft, one story, one friendship at a time.

Join us in celebrating the power of togetherness. Explore our Annual Report and impact reports, share with your friends and let's continue to make a difference.
